{Blazer} Sugarlips; {Top} Francesca's; {Skirt} H&M; {Necklace} Francesca's; {Shoes} Steve Madden

Don't you just love getting free clothes? I sure do. Sugarlips sent me this amazing color-block blazer and I couldn't love it more. It puts a fun twist on the classic black blazer. Sugarlips (link also in my side bar) has some amazing clothes so you should all go check it out!

So Lexie and I had a long drive home a week ago and decided to listen to Tina Fey's book on tape Bossy Pants. And pretty much we fell in love. She is absolutely hilarious and we were cry-laughing the entire time. She talks a lot about how she was never the girl that guys wanted to date. She was just the friend. My favorite part of the book that I heard (I heard the first three-ish hours) was a story of a somewhat date she had with a boy she really liked. They hiked up some mountain (and at one point he fell and rolled), but the best part of it all was once they got up there he was telling her how he had brought a girl he really liked up there the night before. (Tina obviously wasn't super happy about that.) She recalls him telling her that he offered this girl a piece of Trident gum and she asked if she could have just half a piece. He talked about it like it was the sweetest, most feminine thing in the world and Tina says something like, "A girl so delicate, that half a piece of Trident gum was all that she could handle." And I DIED because guess what? I only eat gum, half a piece at a time.

But my second favorite part (and I know I'm talking too much about this subject) is how she describes what women are expected to look like. And it's funny/sad because it's true that people think this way. But it's NOT possible. So we should all just be happy with how we are. Because we are all beautiful. The end.

"Every girl is expected to have Caucasian blue eyes, full Spanish lips, a classic button nose, hairless Asian skin with a California tan, a Jamaican dance hall butt, long Swedish legs, small Japanese feet, the abs of a lesbian gym owner, the hips of a nine-year-old boy, and the arms of Michelle Obama. The only person close to actually achieving this look is Kim Kardashian, who, as we know, was made by Russian scientists to sabotage our athletes. Everyone else is struggling." - Tina Fey

PS. But really, she is sabotaging all of our athletes. Get her outta here.

  1. Sugarlips should have you model for them. You look a WHOLE lot better wearing that jacket than the girl on their site.

  2. I LOOOOVE bossypants. I can't even tell you how many times I've read it since I got it. Such good stories. I quoted that same thing here by the way

    Love your blog!

  3. Cute outfit! And I LOVED Bossypants, so funny!

  4. LOVE the blazer. And I think you pretty much convinced me that I need to purchase Bossypants. Immediately.

  5. Just found your blog! I am your newest follower :)

  6. Bossypants is absolutely hilarious! That quote about society's expectations for a woman's body always gets me, especially with that final comment about Kim Kardashian...Tina's just so great.

ps. LOVE that blazer...such a cute outfit!

  7. Does the blazer have pockets? Super cute...

  8. I absolutely loved Tina's book and laughed out loud when I read the part about Kim! It's SO true! Get her out of here. ;-)
