At last the weekend is here. It has been a week and a half since I
became unemployed. Searching for a job sucks as much as it always has,
times 2! I was not aware that jobs are no longer posted, at length, in
the Sunday paper. Last weekend, I grabbed the North County Times
thinking that there would be a few pages for me to search through.
There was only about half a page!! Before when I was looking, I was
single, living at home and put a little time in each day. Now, I have a
family, a house and plenty of bills that need to get taken care of as
well. We'll say that I'm handling it a touch differently. I was advised
by a friend of mine to treat it like a full time job and spend 8 hours
a day, looking. This I have done.
I
have a question... Does anyone keep detailed records, enough to know
your previous start and stop dates for past employers, your title, last
rate of pay and a good description of what you did while working there?
Let me just say that as a full-time student, I worked a lot of
part-time jobs and I thought I kept decent records. Well, this process
has showed me that I could have done better. I spent about a week,
applying for jobs and updating my personal information, typing the
descriptions and other documents.
Today we'll probably run some
errands and enjoy the day together with our son. I hope all of you have
a wonderful Saturday. Let me know if you hear of any good job
opportunities.
