I have been cooking a bit more for the last few weeks. Since my recent budget cut, it has required me to spend more time in the kitchen. In the past, I’ve cooked a few simple things. I think my self taught skills are getting better but I generally like simple foods… So guess what… I cook that way. I’m one of those people that doesn’t like their food touching other items on their plates. I catch a lot of crap for my contempt for onions in my food. Funny thing is, I love the Bloomin’ Onion at Outback and I can tolerate most onion rings at local fast food restaurants… BUT… if I were to order a cheeseburger from McExpensive and I bit into the onion in my burger, it would probably make me feel sick and I wouldn’t/couldn’t eat any more of the burger. Can anyone else sympathize with me?
Anyways, back to the cooking. My Suegra er, my Mother-In-law came over the other night and taught us how to make Spanish Rice and a soup that Wifey likes. Tonight, I made the rice myself. She happened to come by so I asked a few questions as I was making it but I made it. This time I used brown rice instead of the white. There is a flavor difference but it felt good to make it healthier. The ingredients are simple and if there was a bit of interest, I would share the recipe.
That does sound a little gross. A juicy sandwich is one thing but juice on my sandwich is another. Thanks for the comment.
